Job Title: Infant and Child Development Worker

At The Salvation Army, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Infant and Child Development Worker to join our team. As a key member of our childcare program, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children to grow and develop.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote social interaction and personal development.
  • Support the scheduling of childcare spots and interact with parents regarding space availability.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and engagement with parents on child development and behavior.
  • Ensure confidentiality and maintain accurate records of children, families, staff, visitors, and volunteers.
  • Support parent-child intakes and child development assessments as required.
  • Model positive behaviors and attitudes that support growth and promote change for children and families.
  • Participate in ongoing training in trauma and infant/child mental health.
  • Provide emergency first aid and complete incident reports as needed.
  • Prepare healthy snacks and maintain facility cleanliness and tidiness.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma and specialized training in Early Childhood Education Assistant or equivalent.
  • Registered Early Childhood Education Assistant or equivalent association registration.
  • Certificate in Infant/Child Mental Health an asset.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
Working Conditions:
  • Permanent part-time position working 24 hours per week.
  • Typical working conditions include childcare rooms and office spaces.
  • The job requires lifting/moving equipment and children, and room setup, active involvement with children for most of the day, occasional computer work, cleaning, and putting up wall displays.
