About the Role

Vantage Community Services is seeking qualified and motivated individuals to fill Youth Counsellor positions. As a Youth Counsellor, you will be the primary worker with young people, providing coverage 24/7 and working as a contributing member of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain a structured environment that fosters the development of personal and social functioning for each youth.
  • Be an effective, mature, and appropriate role model for each youth to utilize in their growth.
  • Work effectively with other team members to provide a therapeutic milieu.
  • Develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship with youth in the program through the implementation of the Circle of Courage model.
  • Participate in supervisory meetings, team meetings, retreats, planning sessions, and in-service training as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure the upkeep of the group care living space.
  • Administer medication according to policy and CAC standards.

Requirements

  • Diploma or undergraduate degree in Human Services (or actively enrolled) such as Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with young people is preferred.
  • Current Standard First Aid/Level C CPR, PIC, IRC, Valid Driver's License, and Driver's Abstract.

Compensation

$24.01/hr.
