Construction Safety Specialist

A key member of our team at True North Labour Inc., the Construction Safety Officer plays a vital role in ensuring a safe working environment for our construction workers. This involves developing and implementing policies to minimize the risk of accidents and ensuring that all workers are following established safety regulations.
As a Construction Safety Officer, you will be responsible for inspecting site conditions to identify potential hazards and developing procedures to mitigate them. You will also be in charge of managing emergency situations and ensuring that all workers have the necessary training and equipment to perform their jobs safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify subcontractor safety plans to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and develop procedures to mitigate them
- Establish and maintain safety standards and policies to ensure a safe working environment
- Supervise the safety of all workers on site and respond to any safety concerns they may have
- Serve as a liaison between state and local agencies and contractors to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations
- Receive and review reports from Department of Labor inspectors and take corrective action as necessary
Requirements
- Knowledge of basic hand tools and math
- Ability to own and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including a hard hat, high visibility vest, and steel toe boots
- Must be safety conscious and able to work independently
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
