Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy nationally to support communities affected by emergencies, including Indigenous and remote populations.
- Collaborate with Red Cross personnel and community partners to fulfill service delivery commitments.
- Conduct psychosocial assessments to identify community needs and strengths, advocating for their integration into service planning.
- Work with community partners to provide comprehensive support that enhances individual and community resilience.
- Offer guidance on complex mental health and psychosocial issues to field personnel.
- Lead capacity-building initiatives based on specialized knowledge in mental health practices.
- Contribute to the enhancement of mental health services through feedback and participation in community practices.
Qualifications:
- A registered professional with a degree in public health, psychology, social work, nursing, or a related field.
- Training or experience in Psychological First Aid and crisis intervention.
- Experience in emergency response settings.
- Proven ability to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of affected individuals and communities.
- Strong skills in building effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Capacity to analyze complex issues and prepare comprehensive evaluations.
- Critical thinking skills to assess the impact of actions on various stakeholders.
- Advocate for self-determination and traditional support mechanisms within communities.
- Experience working in complex environments with a high degree of adaptability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; bilingualism in French is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the Canadian Red Cross's mission and programs is beneficial.
- Experience working with Indigenous populations is an asset.
Working Conditions:
- Advisors may be deployed based on operational needs with short notice.
- Field missions may require adaptability to unstable environments and irregular hours.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Successful candidates will undergo a pre-employment screening process.
- The CRC encourages vaccination among personnel.
