Practical Nursing Specialist

As a Practical Nursing Specialist, you will engage in a variety of nursing care responsibilities in partnership with the healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients' health conditions and ensure the execution of care strategies.
- Deliver nursing and wellness assistance, along with medical care and interventions aimed at maintaining, restoring, and preventing health issues.
- Collaborate with the Elders' Home department to provide comprehensive resident care, working alongside nurses, beneficiary attendants, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Nursing Activities:
- Utilize professional judgment to perform a range of nursing tasks with a focus on compassion, respect, and quality care.
- Participate in gathering data related to residents' health histories, including measuring vital signs, preparing and administering medications, and executing prescribed treatments.
- Assist in providing essential hygiene and comfort care, while being vigilant in observing and reporting any changes in patients' health status.
- Communicate relevant health information to the nursing staff and care team to ensure effective and appropriate care delivery.
- Administer treatments and medications as outlined in the care plan, adhering to the responsibilities designated for licensed practical nurses.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a diploma of vocational studies (DVS) in health, assistance, and nursing from an accredited institution.
- Familiarity with Cree culture, language, and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee is advantageous.
- Strong observational skills and self-regulation are essential.
Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in English is required.
- Proficiency in Cree and French is considered an asset.
Additional Requirements:
- Selected candidates must successfully complete mandatory training, including participation in on-call rotations.
