The VP, Finance Shared Services is accountable for managing the finance shared services division of the organization. This position is crucial for ensuring the precise and timely recording of financial data, compliance with accounting standards, and the provision of financial reporting and analysis that delivers insights for informed decision-making.
The VP Finance Shared Services directs the planning and execution of the integration of newly acquired entities into the finance shared services framework, as well as the development and implementation of standardized processes, key performance indicators (KPIs), and documentation of controls and procedures. This role requires a shared services perspective, delivering high-quality services efficiently to stakeholders. The VP Finance Shared Services collaborates with various departments, including FP&A, tax, operations, and external auditors, to ensure the integrity of financial data in the general ledger and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the finance shared services function across the organization. Provide strategic direction, prioritize deliverables effectively, and shape the future of the function. Collaborate with teams to develop and implement operational finance processes that align with organizational goals. Oversee the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis. Review and advise on complex accounting matters, account reconciliations, and month-end closing tasks. Establish and maintain robust internal control processes to protect company assets and ensure data integrity. Ensure adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Work with external auditors during audits to provide necessary documentation and support. Collaborate with the acquisition onboarding team and finance units on the integration of acquired companies. Drive standardization and process improvement initiatives with a shared services approach. Develop and implement KPIs and reporting mechanisms for the shared services function. Participate in project delivery, including ERP implementation and automation initiatives as needed. Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, offering guidance and support in daily operations. Conduct performance evaluations and provide continuous feedback to team members. Identify training needs and coordinate programs to enhance the team's skills. Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.Qualifications:
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards. Advanced analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret and manipulate financial data. Attention to detail and precision in financial analysis and reporting. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively motivate teams and collaborate across functions. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent planning and organizational skills, including managing teams and project timelines.Preferred Qualifications:
10-15 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles with increasing responsibility; experience in shared services is a plus. CPA or equivalent certification in good standing, with experience in a major accounting firm. Strong knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems; proficiency in Workday is advantageous.
