You will work in close collaboration with artists, designers, and fellow programmers to implement cutting-edge rendering techniques and develop breathtaking visual effects that elevate the gaming experience. This position demands a strong grasp of people management, effective communication, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide and mentor a team of 3D programmers, offering technical and professional advice, feedback, and support to ensure high standards of code and project outcomes.
- Work alongside game design and art teams to grasp visual requirements and convert them into efficient and visually striking rendering solutions.
- Organize 3D tasks, assess risks, and estimate production timelines.
- Assign and prioritize tasks while monitoring the progress of the team's 3D programming deliverables.
- Keep abreast of the latest industry trends and advancements in real-time rendering technology, evaluating their potential effects on ongoing and future projects.
- Engage in code reviews, provide constructive criticism, and uphold coding standards to maintain a high level of quality and consistency within the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute development sprints and milestones, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of commitments.
- Actively participate in the recruitment and hiring process for new 3D programmers, assessing technical capabilities and cultural fit within the team.
- Facilitate career growth and recommend training and development opportunities for skills identified by the Team Lead and/or programmers.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience as a 3D programmer in the gaming industry, with a robust portfolio showcasing expertise in real-time rendering and graphics programming.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and/or C#, along with experience in relevant APIs and frameworks.
- Comprehensive understanding of 3D graphics pipelines, shading languages (e.g., HLSL, GLSL), and advanced rendering techniques (e.g., deferred shading, physically-based rendering, global illumination).
- Familiarity with optimization strategies for real-time rendering, including performance profiling, GPU/CPU optimization, and multi-threading.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to debug intricate rendering challenges.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the capability to motivate and inspire a team of programmers.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with artists, designers, and other team members.
- A passion for video games and a keen interest in keeping up with industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Proven experience in leadership and people management.
