The Opportunity: Director, Engineering

Your Responsibilities as Director:

  • Lead high-performing engineering teams focused on developing and maintaining robust Insurance Technology systems.
  • Spearhead the redesign and construction of client technology systems that support our Insurance and Affinity business operations in Canada.
  • Provide Tier 2 and 3 support to engineering squads, ensuring adherence to application criticality frameworks.
  • Leverage reusable frameworks, reference implementations, and established patterns to achieve key product objectives.
  • Champion exceptional user experiences through meticulous architectural design.
  • Guide and motivate the professional development of engineering staff, fostering a highly engaged team environment.
  • Maintain and enhance existing services with a steadfast focus on production reliability and the delivery of new functionalities.

Your Expertise:

  • 3+ years of proven experience leading engineering teams or managing large-scale programs.
  • A strong background in the Financial or Insurance industry is highly preferred.
  • In-depth hands-on experience in modern software development methodologies.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and a comfort level thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.
  • Exceptional project management skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Expertise in agile, DevOps, and test-driven development practices.
  • A passion for team development and exploring emerging technologies.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • Understanding of capital markets or financial services principles.
