Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate GPS instruments for precise layout and as-built documentation of road construction, pipelines, excavations, utilities, and conduits.
  • Create detailed grade sheets and comprehensive as-built construction reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Gather, organize, and meticulously record geographic information, maintaining a systematic approach to data management.
  • Assist in the preparation of essential drawings, charts, plans, records, and documents, contributing to clear communication and project understanding.
  • Maintain meticulous organization of survey records, measurements, and other vital information, ensuring accessibility and accuracy.
  • Expertly calculate layout parameters from digital design files, demonstrating proficiency in spatial analysis and geometric principles.
  • Perform construction layout tasks as required, ensuring alignment with project specifications and blueprints.
  • Conduct quantity surveys as needed, providing accurate measurements for material estimation and cost control.
  • Generate and maintain as-constructed drawings by meticulously tracking and capturing as-built data (inverts, lengths, coordinates, work types), reflecting the final state of construction.
  • Establish and maintain site benchmarks according to industry standards, ensuring reliable reference points for surveying operations.
Qualifications:
  • Possess a Civil/Survey Technologist certification from a recognized College or University, or equivalent field experience demonstrating a strong foundation in surveying principles and practices.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating Trimble or Topcon GPS systems, coupled with computer skills and the ability to utilize AutoCAD & MS Office (Civil 3d is a significant asset).
  • Have proven experience in a surveying role within the construction and engineering sectors, showcasing practical application of surveying techniques.
  • Experience with MTO standards is highly advantageous.
  • Exhibit the ability to interpret and effectively utilize information from graphic drawings and field measurements, ensuring accurate data analysis and interpretation.
  • Prior experience in heavy civil work surveying is preferred, demonstrating familiarity with large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and a strong team orientation, fostering collaboration and effective communication within the project team.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with work hours to accommodate project demands and deadlines.
  • Exhibit versatile computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications.
