Job Summary:We are looking for a seasoned Health and Safety professional with a strong background in occupational safety, risk management, and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing health and safety programs, conducting pre-start health and safety reviews, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure safety protocols are integrated into new technology development.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with Ontario occupational safety regulations and product safety standards.
- Conduct pre-start health and safety reviews, particularly for processes involving our galvanic generator technology and hazardous materials.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and program management teams to ensure safety protocols are integrated into new technology development.
- Perform regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, with a focus on managing risks specific to battery technology, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
- Lead investigations into any safety incidents, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented.
- Provide safety training to employees, ensuring they understand protocols related to battery technology, hazardous materials handling, and emergency response.
- Act as the liaison with regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with Ontario laws and industry standards.
- Monitor and report on health and safety performance and continuously improve safety practices as the business grows.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and P.Eng. designation in Ontario.
- 5+ years of experience in a health & safety role, preferably within Clean technology or a similar product development environment.
- Proven experience conducting pre-start health and safety reviews (PSR).
- Strong knowledge of UL and CSA standards, and Ontario health & safety regulations.
- Expertise in managing chemical hazards such as hydrogen and caustic environments.
- Ability to balance product safety requirements with occupational safety needs.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Health & Safety certifications (e.g., CRSP, CHSC) are an asset.
- $89,000.00-$111,000.00 per year.
- Sarnia, Ontario, Canada – with occasional travel to Kitchener, Ontario.
- You must be fully permitted to live and work in Canada.
- English (Required).
- Fluency in French will be considered an asset.
