Role Description

The Associate Investment Product Manager will join the Product Intelligence Team within Mackenzie’s Product division. This team is responsible for delivering insights on funds, creating marketing materials, conducting competitive analysis, and providing a comprehensive perspective on Mackenzie’s fund offerings in various business and competitive contexts. The team ensures the effective flow of information regarding fund products in the market, develops and maintains information systems to support this flow, and aids Mackenzie’s product strategy through ongoing measurement and analysis of success metrics.

The Associate Investment Product Manager will supply information on funds across all asset classes, including Retail and Institutional – equity, fixed income, and balanced – and will assist in initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality and delivery of insights to business stakeholders. Key stakeholders include the distribution, marketing, and product teams. The ideal candidate is diligent, takes pride in delivering high-quality work, and is eager to develop market and business acumen while continuously seeking improvement. Essential attributes for success include:

Product Management Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Investment Directors to develop content for presentations aimed at external audiences.
  • Conduct Competitive Analysis – evaluating assets and flows, performance, and positioning; disseminating findings throughout the organization.
  • Identify and articulate points of differentiation for Mackenzie products and strategies in both Institutional and Retail markets.
  • Provide marketing support – assist in creating content for fact sheets, brochures, and web materials. Collaborate with Investment Directors to craft narratives for fund positioning and contribute to public relations, website content, sales presentations, and talking points.
  • Aid in the development of new analytical tools and frameworks.
  • Define product positioning and competitive differentiation; articulate unique capabilities and value propositions to effectively retain existing clients.
  • Coordinate with portfolio management, sales, and marketing to ensure consistent product messaging and positioning.
  • Support Product Managers in generating proactive insights, perspectives, product training, and assistance for sales teams.

Business Partnership

  • Act as a client advocate within the organization.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of investment philosophy, processes, performance, and research.
  • Demonstrate strong capital market knowledge and the ability to interpret and communicate its impact on investment performance.
  • Understand investment strategies, performance metrics, and attribution analysis.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with all functional units within Mackenzie.

Product Development Contributions

  • Occasionally contribute to the ideation of new product development.
  • Collaborate with product development and portfolio management teams to bring innovative ideas to market.
  • Generate enthusiasm among clients for new and innovative products.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with financial markets and the asset management industry is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage multiple relationships within the organization effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with strong product knowledge.
  • Self-motivated, achievement-oriented, and capable of problem-solving in a client service context with creative solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • CFA designation is a plus.
  • Fluency in French is beneficial but not mandatory.
