Academic Tutor Positions Available

Position Overview

We are seeking qualified individuals for several academic support roles at Toronto Metropolitan University. The available positions include:
- Six full-time contracts of 120 hours each to facilitate two tutorial sessions per week.
- Three part-time contracts of 60 hours each to conduct one tutorial session per week.
(Flexible combinations may be arranged based on workload and scheduling needs.)

Responsibilities
- 24.0 Hours/Term: Attend lectures.
- 24.0 Hours/Term: Serve as a tutor and lead discussions.
- 24.0 Hours/Term: Hold office hours for student consultations.
- 12.0 Hours/Term: Engage in consultations with students, including electronic communications.
- 12.0 Hours/Term: Collaborate with the Supervising Instructor and participate in mandatory training sessions.
- 16.0 Hours/Term: Assist in grading tests, lab assignments, essays, and term papers; proctor tests, midterms, and quizzes.
- 8.0 Hours/Term: Attend employer orientation workshops and mandatory training sessions.

Total Estimated Work Hours
Actual hours may vary based on qualifications and the determined rate of pay. Employees may work up to a maximum of 130 hours per semester or 390 hours per academic year. Employment is not guaranteed, and when not assigned, employees will not receive compensation or benefits.

Qualifications

- Previous performance evaluations as an Assistant at the University (if applicable).
- Enrollment in: 1st year Masters, 2nd year Masters, or PhD programs.
- Preference will be given first to Doctoral candidates, followed by Master's candidates.

Relevant Experience
Experience in Creative Industries and/or Academic Research Methodology is preferred.

Compensation

- Master’s Level: $47.06 per hour
- PhD Level: $50.82 per hour
