Unit Overview

The Regional Rehabilitation Centre offers a specialized outpatient rehabilitation program designed to evaluate and treat individuals under the WSIB (Workplace Safety Insurance Board) program. This initiative focuses on assessing and addressing the functional limitations and impairments resulting from workplace injuries. The Physiotherapist will collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team that includes Psychology, Occupational Therapy, and Kinesiology professionals. The service delivery model encompasses personalized rehabilitation sessions, circuit-style work hardening, and educational group sessions tailored to the patient demographic.

Position Overview

As an integral member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Physiotherapist is responsible for coordinating, assessing, and delivering care to patients with diverse outpatient neurological and musculoskeletal requirements related to WSIB. The role necessitates effective communication and collaboration with team members and community organizations to ensure optimal care delivery in line with WSIB reporting protocols. Key responsibilities include conducting assessments, planning and implementing treatment interventions, managing discharge processes, and facilitating communication regarding Occupational Health Assessment Programs and Specialty Treatment initiatives.

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday; day and evening shifts.

Qualifications

1. Required: Active registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
2. Required: Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy or Physiotherapy program.
3. Required: Proven experience within the last five years in managing patients with musculoskeletal or acquired brain injuries, particularly those with workplace-related injuries.
4. Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of functioning independently while also collaborating effectively within a healthcare team.
5. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in WSIB Occupational Health Assessment Programs and Specialty Treatment protocols within the last five years.
6. Proven leadership capabilities, strong communication skills, and well-developed critical thinking and clinical reasoning abilities, with a focus on patient and family-centered care.
7. Experience in working collaboratively with and delegating tasks to a Physiotherapy Assistant or other support personnel within the last three years.
8. Demonstrated expertise in providing evidence-based Physiotherapy care.
9. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including clients, families, support staff, management teams, and other members of the care circle.
10. Knowledge of patient safety protocols and procedures.
11. Physical capability to perform repetitive movements such as bending, reaching, pushing, lifting, and transferring, utilizing appropriate body mechanics.
12. Commitment to supporting educational opportunities for students and participating in professional development, clinical practice, and research initiatives as endorsed by the Clinical Manager in collaboration with the Chief of Interdisciplinary Practice.
