About the Sprinkler Fitter Position

The Fire Sprinkler Fitter will be responsible for coordinating with the Labour Supervisor and Project Manager to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects. This includes ensuring all necessary resources are available and that the installation is of the highest quality, meeting customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with Labour Supervisor/Project Manager to optimize project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure quality and safety controls are in place to maintain a safe work environment and deliver superior installation quality.
  • Responsible for the care and use of company-issued vehicles, equipment, and tools, protecting property from deterioration, damage, theft, and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Submit weekly timesheets to the Payroll Department on requested dates and times.
  • Attend pre-construction, coordination, and job progress meetings to ensure complete understanding of project requirements and communicate necessary information to the project team.
  • Coordinate with Labour Supervisor and Project Manager to recommend sufficient timing between material delivery and project start to meet project schedule needs.
  • Attend scheduled in-house meetings/training and contribute recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist in the development and training of field personnel in good installation procedures to maintain high professionalism and safety practices.
  • Provide technical consultation and support to company apprentices, technicians, designers, and shop employees.
  • Respond to other duties/responsibilities assigned by Labour Supervisor and/or Project Manager.
  • Submit written job progress reports on assigned projects as requested by Labour Supervisor.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience installing and servicing sprinkler/fire protection systems.
  • Must be a member in good standing with Local UA 853 or be eligible to become a member.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
  • Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Read and understand construction blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
