Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the Project General Foreman, the Project Foreman plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the designated project. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all activities align with the mission, vision, and values of the Fort McKay Group of Companies LP.

This position is safety-sensitive and requires successful completion of pre-employment testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coordinate, and schedule the tasks of the crew operating heavy machinery and laborers.
  • Provide leadership, support, and direction to a diverse team to fulfill contract obligations and client expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, schedule, and productivity standards.
  • Foster relationships with clients through effective field representation.
  • Assist the General Foreman in resolving supervisory challenges related to the project.
  • Collaborate with the General Foreman on risk assessments, hazard evaluations, and project planning.
  • Guarantee the safe execution of work according to project scope and timelines.
  • Work with safety personnel to uphold and exceed all health, safety, and environmental initiatives.
  • Participate in investigations of incidents or injuries, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Support senior management in the professional development of hourly employees.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, and supervisory skills.
  • Effectively manage and resolve conflicts in a respectful and timely manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • A valid Class 5 License (or equivalent) and a satisfactory 3-year Drivers Abstract are mandatory.
  • CSTS (Construction Safety Training Systems) and CSO/BSO (Common Safety Orientation) certifications are required; Ground Disturbance training is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with SAP and/or Ceridian Dayforce is advantageous.
  • Solid understanding of open pit mining operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and Engineering Work Package (EWP) documents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including strong oral and written abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Capability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while being an effective team player.
  • Commitment to continuous learning through cross-training and skill enhancement.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Dedication to safety, ensuring personal safety and the safety of colleagues, while protecting company and client assets in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Ability to remain composed and decisive under pressure, especially during unexpected situations.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Dependability and reliability are essential.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada is necessary.

Work Environment:
This is a full-time temporary position located in a remote area. The work schedule consists of 14 days on followed by 7 days off, encompassing both day and night shifts. Camp accommodations and flights are provided from designated locations.
