The Medical Director - Port Alberni, West Coast serves as a pivotal leadership role, sharing the responsibility for maintaining exceptional service quality. Collaborating closely with the Co-Leader, the Medical Director engages with various stakeholders, including patients, to foster ongoing enhancements in service delivery. This role reports to both an Executive Medical Director and an Executive Director.
Main Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Co-manages and supervises initiatives to guarantee that program services are delivered efficiently, effectively, and cohesively across Island Health locations; Collaborates with relevant Departmental Medical Leaders to address physician governance issues, including matters of professional medical practice.
- Operations & Quality: Develops frameworks and processes to involve physicians and staff in the continuous enhancement of service delivery; Jointly monitors the program budget and performance with the co-leader, making necessary adjustments; Ensures thorough investigation and resolution of incidents related to the Patient Safety Learning System and Patient Care Quality Office.
- Change Management: Co-creates and executes strategies for change management to engage and support physicians and staff during transitions.
- Informatics: Oversees initiatives that promote the use of technology and data to enhance service delivery, utilizing Electronic Health Records (EHR) in partnership with the Quality Systems team.
- Planning: Evaluates, tracks, and anticipates the resource needs of the program, collaborating with medical and administrative leaders to prioritize these needs within the available resources.
