About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at Franco's Carpenter. As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the construction and repair of buildings, structures, and other wooden objects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-construction tasks: Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Construction tasks: Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials to build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Finishing tasks: Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to complete the construction project.
  • Maintenance and repair tasks: Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in various settings, including mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
Requirements
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma is required, but relevant experience and skills are essential.
  • Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in the carpentry trade is preferred.
  • Work site environment: The Carpenter will work at heights, in noisy, dusty, and outdoors environments.
  • Work setting: The Carpenter will work in various settings, including construction, renovation, commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
  • Equipment and machinery experience: The Carpenter should have experience with hand tools and be able to operate them safely and efficiently.
  • Transportation/travel information: The Carpenter should have their own transportation to travel to different work sites.
  • Work conditions and physical capabilities: The Carpenter should be able to perform tasks that require bending, crouching, kneeling, handling heavy loads, and working in a physically demanding environment with tight deadlines.
  • Own tools/equipment: The Carpenter should have their own steel-toed safety boots and other necessary tools and equipment.
  • Personal suitability: The Carpenter should possess accurate, client-focused, efficient interpersonal skills, judgement, reliability, team player, and punctuality.
