Position Summary

We are seeking a Release Coordinator/Analyst to join our expanding Release Management team.

Key Responsibilities:

Release Planning:

  • Engage in release planning discussions with Scrum Masters and Project Managers to determine the optimal sequencing of release packages.
  • Contribute to and document recommendations for releases and/or changes to production, detailing scope, schedule, deliverables, and rollback plans. Review these recommendations with the Release Management team.
  • Maintain the release/support management schedule for designated systems.
  • Oversee the documentation of release notes prepared by the team, ensuring they are communicated to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Update the Release Implementation Plan with relevant information regarding the release, including available resources for production deployment.
  • Participate in a Release Management rotation cycle to supervise weekend production deployments.
  • Ensure timely communication with all stakeholders across business and IT teams.

Release Management:

  • Ensure compliance with IT Security and project standards as outlined by Release Management. Collaborate with IT Security to provide updates on Jira cards created by the Release Management team.
  • Communicate deployment outage windows to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and schedule significant changes to production activities, tracking all elements with various team members as projects progress through testing phases into production.
  • Support release execution by monitoring each phase of the release process. Validate the release as it advances through various gates and testing phases, including environment monitoring for subsequent incident management and assisting testers in reporting defects.
  • Provide coordination and communication during and after deployment as projects transition through testing phases into production.
  • Verify stakeholder acceptance and signoff on deliverables.

Additional Responsibilities:

Release Standards and Processes:

  • Identify opportunities for tactical improvements to the release management process in collaboration with other team members.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all processes, including resources for stakeholders and team members.
  • Update release management standards as established by the Release Management team and educate internal members on the release methodology and strategy as needed.
  • Collect feedback from users of release management standards and make recommendations for modifications or retirements based on this feedback.

Coordination for Departmental Initiatives:

  • Assist the Manager in overseeing initiatives that involve multiple teams within the department.
  • Help develop plans and schedules.
  • Track progress across teams and squads.
  • Identify issues, risks, and action items related to initiatives.
  • Document progress and status reporting using tools like Confluence and Jira.

Your Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of professional experience, with 3-5 years in a related role.
  • Experience in agile product development.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong facilitation and coordination abilities.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build relationships across various teams.
  • Effective time and priority management skills.
  • Capability to manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Analytical and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in a service-oriented environment is an asset.
  • Preference for experience in the insurance industry and implementation of web-based policy administration systems with integrations to legacy applications.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is advantageous.
  • No Canadian work experience is required; however, eligibility to work in Canada is necessary.
