The First Nations Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Officer - Media Relations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Communications and Media Relations team, you will play a critical role in supporting the Director, Communications and Health Promotion in proactive media and government relations, media training, media strategy, and issues management.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support to the Director, Communications and Health Promotion in proactive media and government relations, media training, media strategy, and issues management.
- Communicate complex and time-sensitive information to a wide range of stakeholders, including external media and community.
- Act as the first point of contact for external media inquiries.
- Develop proactive media relations strategies and content to support the FNHA's mission and mandate.
- Assess the value of interview requests from the media, source appropriate spokespeople, and coordinate interviews.
- University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Writing, or Journalism, or relevant combination of education, training, and experience.
- 4-6 years of experience in media relations with progressively senior responsibilities.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a First Nations environment, especially in the area of developing key messages, press releases, and communication in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner.
- Competitive salary range: $84,250 - $113,985 per year.
- 37.5 hours/week (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri).
- Hybrid working arrangement with the option to work from home.
