Position Overview: Part-time role as a School Age Early Childhood Educator for YMCA Before & After School Programs in Midland/Penetanguishene.
Opportunity: Contribute to the development of healthy, vibrant communities by creating nurturing environments for children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care to children, including toileting, first aid, medication administration, and monitoring dietary needs and medical conditions.
- Engage actively with children, ensuring their safety and supervision in groups of up to 15.
- Design and implement play-based learning activities aligned with YMCA Curriculum.
- Maintain positive and professional communication with families, staff, and volunteers.
- Create an inclusive atmosphere that supports all children's needs, including those with exceptional behaviors and additional requirements.
- Exhibit behaviors that reflect our Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Adhere to work schedules to maintain appropriate child-to-staff ratios and provide timely notice of any scheduling changes.
- Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing routines and schedules.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification or completion within the first 90 days of employment.
- Vulnerable Sector Check required.
- Up-to-date immunizations in accordance with local public health and Child Care Early Years Act.
- Availability for split shifts Monday to Friday, approximately 7:00-9:00 am & 3:00-6:00 pm.
- Passion for engaging with children and delivering quality play-based learning experiences.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with families, staff, and volunteers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), and participate in physical activities.
- Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily, regardless of weather conditions.
- Registered Early Childhood Educator status or willingness to obtain registration, or actively enrolled in an Early Childhood Education program.
