Job Summary

CATSearch HR Consultancy Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Manager to lead our tax consulting projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert tax advice and guidance to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Lead tax consulting projects, including corporate reorganizations, estate freezes, and general tax planning, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Tax Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis of complex tax issues, and review models to assess potential tax savings, to provide expert advice to clients.
  • Tax Compliance: Oversee tax compliance and related forms for planning engagements, to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to compliance teams on tax matters, to ensure they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their roles effectively.
  • Communication and Presentation: Present research findings professionally, both verbally and in writing, to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Business Development: Contribute to bi-weekly tax articles, to showcase our expertise and thought leadership in the industry.
  • Team Development: Guide and develop junior tax team members, to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their roles.
  • Process Improvement: Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), to ensure efficient and effective processes.
  • Operational Management: Track time, expenses, and tasks using CCH and other tools, to ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting.
  • Performance Metrics: Meet target billable hours and participate in business development, to ensure the team's performance and growth.

Requirements

  • Professional Qualifications: CPA designation and completed CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course.
  • Industry Experience: 8+ years in public accounting with expertise in personal, corporate, and trust tax returns, estate planning, reorganizations, and dispute resolution.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Canadian income tax and experience in tax research, skilled in CCH (Tax Prep), CaseWare, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, responsive to client needs, and able to build strong relationships.
  • Project Management: Strong project management and organizational skills, able to meet deadlines.
