Job OverviewWe're seeking a highly skilled Librarian 1 (Adult Services) to join our team. As a key member of our community outreach team, you'll be responsible for designing and delivering programs that engage adults and foster a love of learning. You'll work closely with community partners to build relationships and promote our services.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and assess programs for adults based on strategic priorities
- Build relationships with community agency partners and promote our services
- Maintain branch collections under the direction of the Collection Services & Evaluation Librarian
- Provide reference and reader's advisory services for all ages, helping patrons navigate digital resources and devices
- Balance patrons' needs and respond to issues confidently and professionally in a busy public space
- Masters degree in information or library science from an accredited program
- Understanding of and commitment to the principles of intellectual freedom, inclusiveness, and service excellence
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
- Proven ability to provide leadership and responsible oversight of services, spaces, and resources
- Demonstrated competence with current library technologies and assisting patrons with accessing and navigating the digital environment
- Experience with teamwork and projects, ability to take initiative, ask for assistance, and take direction
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Positivity and enthusiasm to serve members of the public from all walks of life
- Comfort level with uncertainty and curiosity to learn more
- Experience or interest in making connections with community groups and representing your organization in the community
- Experience or interest in program areas such as Community Dialogue, Civic Engagement, Skill Building, and Community Learning
We offer a competitive hourly pay rate, based on a 35-hour workweek, plus a generous benefits package. This role requires evening and weekend shifts. If you're passionate about connecting community, sharing knowledge, and inspiring stories, we'd love to hear from you.
