Job Title: Traditional Counselor
Job Summary:
The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a skilled Traditional Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our corrections division, you will play a vital role in providing spiritual guidance and support to offenders, while promoting cultural awareness and understanding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide spiritual guidance and counseling to offenders, focusing on traditional based spirituality and cultural awareness.
- Develop and implement culturally sensitive programs and services to promote offender rehabilitation and reintegration.
- Collaborate with community leaders and stakeholders to build relationships and promote cultural understanding.
- Conduct assessments and provide recommendations for offender programming and services.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of traditional based programming, community resources, and cultural practices.
Requirements:
- Post-Secondary Certificate in Social Sciences or related field.
- One year of progressively more responsible experience in a counseling field.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Class 4 Driver's License.
- Strong awareness of cultural diversity, specifically northern Aboriginal traditions and values.
