The Emergency & Urgent Care Program is dedicated to providing exemplary emergency medical services, ensuring that patients receive compassionate and high-quality care in a collaborative environment. Our Emergency Department (ED) is focused on delivering outstanding patient and staff experiences, prioritizing safety and optimal outcomes.
Our ED handles a significant volume of patient visits daily, catering to individuals from various backgrounds and demographics. We serve as a regional hub for specialized care in areas such as stroke, neurology, and cardiac emergencies.
Essential Qualifications:
Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to evaluate and manage a diverse range of patient health emergencies.
- Delivering care to patients upon their arrival at the emergency department as part of a cohesive team.
- Administering emergency interventions and working alongside physicians and nurse practitioners to establish appropriate treatment plans based on established medical protocols.
- Conducting patient assessments, monitoring vital signs, and participating in treatment procedures while fulfilling other nursing responsibilities.
- Utilizing critical thinking and advanced assessment skills to provide effective patient care.
- Acting as a liaison among patients, families, healthcare team members, and community partners.
- Engaging in quality improvement initiatives and participating in departmental committees.
- Contributing to the development and revision of clinical guidelines and policies.
- Maintaining professional competence through ongoing education and lifelong learning.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
- Previous experience in an emergency department or clinical resource team is preferred.
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or eligible for registration.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to apply critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Positive attitude and a commitment to teamwork.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Previous experience in emergency or medical/surgical settings is advantageous.
- Continuous education in relevant fields is considered an asset.
