About the Role

The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to join the Strategic Policy and Planning Branch as Director, Strategic Policy. This is a key role that will provide leadership and direction to the branch, advancing the mandate of government and the ministry through strategic policy and planning, risk management, reporting, policy development, and intergovernmental relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct a diverse team of professionals to provide research, analysis, and advice to support government and ministry decision-making.
  • Plan and lead stakeholder and citizen engagement processes to inform strategic direction and policy development.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues and external partners, including educators, administrators, other ministries, and provincial stakeholder organizations, to develop and implement policies, protocols, and strategies.
  • Represent and advance ministry and government interests through the negotiation and management of intergovernmental relations and agreements.
Requirements
  • A proven track record in developing high-performing teams in an inclusive and collaborative environment.
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise in public policy analysis, government planning, policy development, and decision-making processes.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain working relationships with colleagues and stakeholder organizations to bring together multiple perspectives to inform policy recommendations and develop solutions and agreements.
  • Knowledge of the trends, issues, and context for education in Saskatchewan.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, consistently, and strategically to advance organizational goals and contribute to discussions with senior leaders.
  • Experience in identifying and acting upon opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement while managing risk.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in public administration, education, or social sciences combined with significant experience in public policy analysis and intergovernmental relations.
  • Ability to speak and write in French is an asset.
