Senior Counsel, Law, Policy

Lenovo is a global technology leader with a strong commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. As a Senior Counsel, Law, Policy, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's trade compliance strategy and ensuring that our global operations are in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement trade compliance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with US and non-US export controls, imports/customs, sanctions, and other relevant regulations.
  • Provide expert advice on trade compliance matters to senior executives and other stakeholders, including classification of technology, software, and source code, technology transfers, and IT controls/security for controlled technology.
  • Collaborate with peers to develop and enhance US and non-US compliance processes, taking into account the impact of geopolitics on global trade strategy and business.
  • Support cross-border transactions and international trade compliance matters, including advising on trade compliance training for various audiences.
  • Partner with leaders in legal, engineering, and supply chain to drive large-scale, complex supply chain initiatives and ensure compliance with trade regulations.
  • Develop process enhancements that embed new regulatory requirements into business operations, and design and advise on enhancements for trade compliance policies, operating procedures, and technology control plans.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in advising multinational businesses on trade compliance matters, including US export controls, imports/customs, sanctions, and compliance program development.
  • Subject matter expertise with non-US export and import regulatory regimes, and experience practicing with a top-tier law firm and/or multinational consulting group.
  • Ability to clearly articulate and visually present complex legal advice for senior executives, and excellent written work product (compliance policies, procedures, training).
