Position Overview:
We are seeking a Laboratory Analyst to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. The successful candidate will be focused on producing high-quality, defensible analytical data in a safe and timely manner by adhering to established Standard Operating Procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
The primary duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing LIMS summary reports to effectively plan and organize daily tasks
  • Adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during all operations
  • Preparing samples according to established protocols prior to analysis
  • Conducting tests in accordance with written instructions
  • Ensuring accuracy in both sample preparation and analysis
  • Operating and maintaining necessary laboratory instruments and equipment, including computers and automated systems (experience with GC is a plus)
  • Meeting quality and turnaround time requirements set by clients, ensuring samples are analyzed within specified holding times
  • Identifying and documenting any sample deviations or non-conformances, reporting these to the Supervisor

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in a relevant field (e.g., BS, Petroleum/Chemical Technologist)
  • Experience in a Laboratory Technologist or Analyst role is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of sample handling procedures to maintain sample integrity
  • Knowledge of laboratory Occupational Health and Safety practices for handling hazardous materials
  • Excellent manual dexterity, record-keeping, and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and duties
  • Strong time-management, communication, and multi-tasking abilities
  • A positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • The capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: Diploma in a related field (Required)
  • 1 year of experience in a related field (Preferred)
  • GC Experience is considered an asset

Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed, including some weekends
  • Potential for shift work (morning or afternoon)
