Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Services Specialist III to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our Social Services Department, you will be responsible for providing case management services to clients in need of support and guidance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess client needs and develop individualized plans to address their social, economic, and health problems.
  • Provide counseling and assistance to clients, including referrals to community resources and services.
  • Conduct face-to-face interviews to assess progress and make recommendations for continued support.
  • Collaborate with community partners to ensure seamless delivery of services and support.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive records of client interactions and progress.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in social work, human services, or a related field.
  • Considerable experience in local agency social work, with a strong understanding of social institutions and the methods of the helping process.
  • Thorough knowledge of child abuse, policies, and procedures, as well as intervention and treatment techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple cases.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.
