Your Role as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Specialist:
- Diagnose, clean, repair, replace, install, and maintain HVAC systems and equipment, including refrigeration units, chillers, cooling towers, and air handling units across various hospital environments.
- Implement an effective preventive maintenance strategy to ensure all equipment operates efficiently.
- Conduct thorough inspections of all Air Handling Units (AHUs) for noise, vibration, leaks, and overall performance, both on-site and via the Building Automation System (BAS).
- Perform weekly checks on Fan Coil Units (FCUs) and ensure all systems are functioning optimally.
- Monitor the BAS for HVAC-related alerts and assess AHU performance concerning temperature and airflow settings.
- Continuously evaluate system pumps for performance, especially during peak summer months.
- Assess chiller performance to ensure optimal operation.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules and emergency repairs for HVAC systems.
- Order necessary supplies such as filters, belts, and cleaning agents to maintain equipment.
- Respond to maintenance requests and resolve issues within your expertise as needed.
- Collaborate with team members on maintenance and project tasks as required.
- Utilize handheld devices and maintenance software to track and document work requests.
- Adhere to departmental standards to meet quality benchmarks and performance targets.
- Follow all safety protocols and comply with company policies and hospital regulations.
Is This Position Right for You?
- Completion of Grade 12 Diploma.
- 3-5 years of experience in HVAC and refrigeration maintenance.
- Registered member in good standing with Skilled Trades BC.
- Certification as a 313A Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (commercial).
- Valid ODP Certification.
- G1 Gas Technician license.
- Strong knowledge of central chiller plants and control systems.
- Experience with commercial refrigeration systems is advantageous.
- Ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks relevant to your skill set.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to seek assistance when necessary.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and build effective working relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to work collaboratively in a team or independently as required.
- Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
