Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Lead Chef to oversee culinary operations at Palm & Pine Indian Restaurant Inc. This role involves managing kitchen staff, creating innovative dishes, and ensuring the highest quality of food preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week
  • Education: Completion of a college or CEGEP program in culinary arts (1 to 2 years)
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a similar role
Work Environment

The position is based in a fast-paced restaurant setting, specializing in South Indian cuisine. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of 3-4 kitchen staff, including sous-chefs and cooks.

Essential Duties
  • Estimate food supply costs and labor expenses
  • Maintain comprehensive records of food costs, consumption, and inventory
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff in cooking techniques and food presentation
  • Develop new recipes and menus that align with quality standards
  • Oversee food preparation for events and special occasions
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Consult with clients for catering and special functions
  • Recruit and manage kitchen personnel
