Position Overview:

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Mechanical Quality Specialist will be tasked with the preparation and support of QA/QC documentation. This role involves leading the development of inspection, examination, and testing methodologies while collaborating with specialized suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain QA/QC documentation.
  • Prepare and update Construction Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Review RFQ documentation and contracts for quality assurance.
  • Participate in internal and supplier audits, and conduct source surveillance as necessary.
  • Support QA/QC activities related to Fabrication and Construction.
  • Collaborate with strategic suppliers (e.g., NDE, Heat Treatment, and machining) to develop techniques and processes.
  • Review supplier documentation, including Travelers and Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Provide quarterly and annual trend analysis data for the Quality Assurance Program.
  • Assist in QA/QC training related to Codes and Standards.
  • Support Quality and Construction Engineering initiatives focused on continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • A graduate of a technology program at the college level, preferably in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in QA/QC within the Nuclear Industry.
  • General knowledge of nondestructive examination and inspection techniques relevant to construction and fabrication.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Nuclear Codes & Standards such as ASME Section III, Subsection NCA, NB, ND, NE, NF, NQA-1, ASME Section II, Part A, B, and C, ASME Section V, CSA N285.0, CSA B51, CSA N299, ASME B31.1, and B31.3, ASNT-TC-1A, CSA W59.
  • Knowledge of additional Codes and Standards including ASME Section I, Section VIII Div. 1, ASME Section IX, CSA N291, CSA N287, NSI N690, AWS D1.1, and D1.6 would be advantageous.
  • Relevant certifications such as Nuclear Lead Auditor and CWB Weld Inspector - Level II (CWB AWS QCI CGSB Level 2 - Liquid Penetrant & Magnetic Particle Technician) are considered assets.
