Materials Operations Supervisor

Reporting directly to the Materials Manager, the successful candidate will oversee the operational activities within the Materials division, working in conjunction with another Operations Manager. This role is pivotal in establishing the necessary controls and systems for production, processing, and overall operations while ensuring a secure working environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the operations of the aggregates and asphalt facilities, including scheduling production, planning maintenance, and ensuring product quality.
- Staff management:
- Recruitment of new team members
- Provide onboarding and training for new hires
- Address employee conflicts and issues
- Offer guidance and performance evaluations to team members
- Commit to fostering a robust team through mentorship, training, and growth opportunities.
- Formulate and execute operational strategies aimed at enhancing productivity, minimizing costs, and maximizing efficiency.
- Collaborate with various departments, such as sales and logistics, to achieve production goals and fulfill customer demands through effective forecasting and scheduling.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and analyze operational metrics to pinpoint areas needing improvement.
- Initiate continuous improvement projects to elevate plant operations and promote operational excellence.
- Manage relationships with suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to facilitate operational functions.
- Stay informed on industry developments, technologies, and best practices to foster innovation and maintain competitiveness.
- Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations and company protocols to uphold a safe workplace.
- Conduct regular site inspections to supervise operations, perform assessments, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. This may involve travel to various locations to provide hands-on leadership and support to remote teams.
- Engage in financial discussions and provide insights on operational performance, cost evaluations, and budget planning to align with the company's financial objectives.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Office work, involving prolonged periods of sitting.
- Frequent site visits, including travel to distant locations.
- Willingness to work outside standard business hours.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Over 10 years of experience in the aggregates sector.
- Exceptional skills in managing personnel, including large teams.
- Proficient in resolving issues as they arise.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Demonstrated success in driving operational enhancements, optimizing resources, and meeting production objectives.
