Job Title: Senior Compositing Artist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Compositing Artist to join our team at FOLKS VFX. As a key member of our visual effects department, you will be responsible for creating high-quality composites for episodic TV and live-action feature films.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compose complex shots at various stages of production, including pre-compositions, alignments, 2D tracking, 2D effects, overlay extractions, integration, and color correction.
  • Follow a set style direction and pursue the highest quality in your work.
  • Escalate issues to more senior artists or supervisors as needed.
  • Work successfully as part of a team, seeking collaboration opportunities and communicating effectively with team members.
  • Organize, prioritize, and communicate to meet production needs.
  • Participate in creative discussions and actively participate in dailies.
  • Receive and implement feedback quickly and effectively.
  • Stay flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work within a set workflow and have the creativity and problem-solving skills to work around issues.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience creating high-end composites for episodic TV and live-action feature films.
  • Good knowledge of Nuke and a thorough understanding of the math behind comp operations.
  • Understanding of the basic principles of cinematography, including knowledge of color, lighting, perspective, and composition.
  • Awareness of other discipline software, such as Maya, Houdini, and industry-standard tracking software.
  • Good level of attention to detail and an understanding of color theory, color LUTs, composition, and the medium of film.
  • Good organizational skills, maintaining a calm and professional demeanor in a delivery-focused work environment.
  • Technical and creative problem-solving with a can-do mindset.
  • Working knowledge of the VFX pipeline and entire post-production process, including interdepartmental dependencies and handover processes.
