Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time Dental Hygienist to join our team at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care. The successful candidate will provide dental hygiene services to inpatients, including preventative oral hygiene services, and will be responsible for maintaining hygienic conditions in the dental work area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide dental hygiene services, including scaling, root planning, impression taking, and application of topical fluoride
  • Conduct preliminary examinations of the oral cavity and surrounding structures for patients
  • Develop and implement a program of preventative oral hygiene education for patients and direct care staff
  • Maintain infection control measures and monitor inventory of dental office supplies
  • Visit units to assess patient's oral hygiene problems and educational needs
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Current licensure and membership in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario
  • Knowledge of current registered dental hygiene practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of dental program services, policies, and procedures, and relevant parts of federal and provincial legislation
  • Knowledge of psychiatric illness and various symptoms
  • Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication and facilitation skills
  • Proven ability to adapt readily to change
  • Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values, and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
