Position: Instrumentation and Control Engineer
Location: Mississauga, ON
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct both conceptual and detailed design of Candu instrumentation and control systems, including the establishment of functional and performance requirements, control algorithms, and wiring configurations.
- Specify, size, and select various I&C components, generating associated documentation such as assessment reports, setpoint calculations, and technical specifications.
- Revise and create I&C engineering design documents, encompassing design requirements, descriptions, elementary diagrams, and functional specifications, along with necessary analysis and assessment documents.
- Collaborate with the drawing office to prepare various I&C-related engineering drawings, including general arrangement drawings and instrument loop diagrams.
- Provide or enhance wiring and technical design inputs for computerized wiring programs.
- Engage with multiple engineering disciplines, suppliers, and other company sectors.
- Support responses to technical inquiries from design review teams and regulatory bodies.
- Offer technical assistance to engineering teams on-site.
- Deliver technical presentations with clarity and precision.
- Effectively manage assigned tasks, including prioritization, execution, schedule management, and reporting to achieve project objectives.
- Honours degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- Strong technical skills and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on practical engineering solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the capability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with instrumentation and control system functions and configurations, particularly in CANDU plant processes or similar systems in other sectors, is advantageous.
- Experience in an operational nuclear power facility or similar environment is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of industrial/nuclear QA programs and relevant CSA, IEEE, or related I&C engineering standards is a plus.
- Willingness to obtain Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) status.
- A minimum of 7 to 12 years of relevant engineering experience is required.
- PEO eligibility is considered an asset.
