We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Permanent Part-Time Educational Assistant to join our team at Westview School. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs and/or high behavioral needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Support students with diverse needs and/or high behavioral needs
- Transport students (personal vehicle may be required to transport)
- Attend to personal hygiene and medical needs as required
- Prepare and plan student-based life skills and academic programming under direction of teacher
- Focus on successfully transitioning the student to be able to work with other students and adults
- Focus on behaviour and safety plan created specifically for students as required
- Supervision of intensive need student(s) as well as small groups of students as required
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma from an institution recognized by the Board of Education
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and be flexible
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as an effective team member
- Valid driver's license
- Demonstrated knowledge of school computer software such as word processing and computer assisted learning software
- An educational assistant or equivalent diploma, NVCI, First Aid, Autism and Behavioral educational background will be considered assets
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated SEIU-West Collective Agreement as listed on our website www.secpsd.ca. The starting wage for this position is currently $20.77/hour along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
