About the Role

The Pharmacy Practice Assistant plays a vital role in the inter-professional team, providing safe and competent patient-centered care. This position requires a strong understanding of pharmacy practices and the ability to work independently, prioritizing patient needs and goals.

The successful candidate will have a Grade XII diploma and completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician/Technology Program, or equivalent experience. Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in Nova Scotia is an asset. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

About You
  • Grade XII plus completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician/Technology Program (accredited program preferred) OR one-year full-time experience as a hospital pharmacy technician OR two years' experience as a community pharmacy technician
  • Licensure in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician (NSCP) is an asset
  • Two years' experience as a pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistant, preferably in a hospital, an asset
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control and record keeping
  • Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medications
  • Basic typing skills or computer/keyboard experience; skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation as travel may be required (on occasion)
Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent full-time position with a 75-hour bi-weekly schedule. The hourly rate is $23.18 to $27.18, with opportunities for benefits and a defined benefit pension plan.
