Essential Requirements:
- Completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant Program
- Certification or eligibility with MLPAO or CSMLS
- Experience in phlebotomy is advantageous
- Proficient understanding and utilization of laboratory and hospital software systems (e.g., LIS, Document Management Systems)
- Effective interpersonal skills for interaction with various stakeholders (including staff physicians, patients, technologists, suppliers, and health authorities)
- Demonstrated initiative and sound judgment in high-pressure situations
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and adapt to evolving demands
- Competency as outlined in the Competency Profile for Medical Laboratory Assistants by the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
- Ability to maintain precise records and documentation
- Willingness to work off-hours, weekends, and on-call shifts as required
- Capacity to work effectively within a team setting
- Ability to manage exposure to infection, noise, odors, interruptions, and stressful conditions
- Commitment to confidentiality and privacy
- Recent positive performance and attendance history
