About the Role

The City of Calgary is seeking a passionate and experienced Line Dance Instructor to lead engaging recreational programs for our community. As an instructor, you will play a vital role in fostering a fun and inclusive environment where participants can learn new skills, improve their fitness, and connect with others.

Your Responsibilities

  • Deliver dynamic line dance classes across various skill levels, adhering to the City of Calgary's established curriculum.
  • Develop age-appropriate lesson plans, course outlines, and resources that cater to diverse participant needs.
  • Assess individual participant abilities and provide necessary adaptations to ensure a safe and enjoyable learning experience for all.
  • Prepare and organize equipment, supplies, and program spaces to create a welcoming and conducive learning environment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by interacting with participants in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate program records and contribute to program evaluations to ensure continuous improvement.

Your Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • A recognized advanced post-secondary education in dance or a related field; OR a completed teaching certificate in dance or a related field; OR a minimum of four years of extensive experience as a line dance instructor within the industry.
  • Proven ability to assess participant needs, evaluate their progress, and adapt instruction accordingly.
  • Experience in developing curriculum-based programs that align with established learning objectives.
  • Knowledge of Physical Literacy principles is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, along with demonstrated initiative, planning, and organizational abilities.
  • Sound judgment in maintaining safety standards and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
