Position Overview
The Manufacturing Team Leader is tasked with overseeing and guiding the production department's operations to enhance efficiency while controlling costs and ensuring product quality. This role is pivotal in verifying that production standards are upheld and involves training and managing production staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and direct the workflow of employees and machinery.
- Assign tasks to team members, establish production goals, and convey clear instructions.
- Foster positive employee relations and address concerns promptly, collaborating with HR as necessary.
- Monitor and implement training initiatives within the department, maintaining relevant documentation.
- Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols and operate in a secure environment.
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss performance and expectations.
- Complete performance assessments for team members as required.
- Perform routine safety checks and inspections.
- Engage in the corrective action process as needed.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Communicate with management regarding job progress and obtain task instructions.
- Mentor less experienced staff in equipment installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Plan and organize daily schedules for employees.
- Manage payroll and track employee hours.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Journeyman/woman certification in a relevant trade is advantageous.
- A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in operating and diagnosing machinery and equipment.
- Familiarity with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to interpret inspection reports to ensure maintenance and repair tasks are completed effectively.
- Skilled in reading and understanding technical drawings.
