Job Title: Registered Practical Nurse - CVH 4 Mother

About the Role:

Mackenzie Health is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team in the Woman and Child Program. As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care to postpartum women and their newborns, working collaboratively with our interprofessional care team to deliver exceptional patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide holistic, patient-centered care to postpartum women and their newborns, adhering to evidence-based nursing practices and the standards set by Mackenzie Health.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing a workload and addressing issues in a productive and respectful manner.
  • Exercise sound professional judgment, using best practice guidelines to ensure safe and quality care.
  • Contribute to a safe and inclusive environment for all, adhering to patient and staff safety policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, preferred upon hire but must be obtained within 3 months.
  • Breastfeeding course and Fetal Health Surveillance course (FHSL) an asset, with FHSL required within 3 months of hire.
  • Practical Nurse Diploma from an approved nursing program, preferred.
  • Current Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario, required.
  • Recent completion of a physical assessment course, preferred.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with electronic medical records.
  • Familiarity with the Regulated Health Professions Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and verbal and written communication skills in English, with an ability to deliver information and work effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated strong decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and adjust to new or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
