Job Summary

Prairie Mountain Health is seeking a skilled Nurse II to join our team in providing services to clients engaged in addiction recovery and treatment. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will work collaboratively to deliver high-quality care and support to clients in community-based OAT treatment and co-ed treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Assessment and Care: Conduct thorough assessments of clients' medical needs upon admission and implement planned medical care, including nursing procedures and therapies.
  • Medical Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Medication Management: Order, prepare, and monitor the use of prescribed and over-the-counter medications, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Client File Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for clients, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Networking and Liaison: Establish and maintain relationships with the medical community, providing support and guidance on client pre-treatment, treatment, and post-treatment medical needs.
  • Health Education and Counseling: Develop and deliver health-related education programs, providing individual and group counseling to support clients' recovery and well-being.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to crisis situations, including suicide ideation, with empathy and professionalism, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Administrative Tasks: Meet administrative requirements, including correspondence, statistics, activity reports, and attendance, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Training and Development: Provide training to non-medical employees on the self-administration of medication, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Professional Development: Commit to ongoing professional development activities, engaging in reciprocal learning experiences with colleagues and direct supervisor to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Personal and Professional Ethics: Demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional ethics, integrity, and responsibility, upholding the highest standards of practice and conduct.
  • Emotional Intelligence and Communication: Manage emotions and strong feelings, maintaining a calm and tactful composure under challenging circumstances, and communicate effectively with clients and staff.
  • Treatment Planning and Coordination: Match treatment services to clients' unique circumstances, ensuring personalized care and support.
  • Record Keeping and Confidentiality: Maintain current and accurate confidential records of client files, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team within the organization, establishing and maintaining professional working relationships and regular communication with community and other related organizations relevant to clients' needs.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the province.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in addiction recovery and treatment.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong assessment and care planning skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and commitment to ongoing professional development.
