About the Role

Framestore is seeking a highly skilled Pipeline Technical Director to join our team in Montreal. As a key member of our global pipeline team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining digital assets and workflow-related tools that enable production artists to work efficiently at scale.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, with experience working with RV, Hiero, ffmpeg, and similar software packages used in VFX or Animation video review sessions. Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages, such as Python, C++, Qt, or Javascript, is also essential.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements, participate in agile practices for pipeline development projects, and contribute to architecture and design decisions. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance to associate pipeline TDs and stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve skills and bring innovative ideas to the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain pipeline software
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using industry best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements
  • Participate in and contribute to agile practices for pipeline development projects
  • Work closely with other developers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
  • Actively participate in code reviews to maintain quality of code, identify potential issues, and ensure adherence to coding standards
  • Contribute towards architecture and design decisions for projects
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve skills and bring innovative ideas to the team
Requirements
  • Experience working with RV, Hiero, ffmpeg, and similar software packages used in VFX or Animation video review sessions
  • Industry experience working with Editorial departments and VFX or Animation production teams is desirable
  • Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages (Python, C++, Qt, Javascript...)
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix-based professional development environments, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical people
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, both when working independently and collaboratively within a team
