Black & McDonald is seeking an experienced Service Refrigeration technician to join our Service Division. If you're a hands-on, customer service-oriented, and technically inclined professional looking to build a solid foundation for your career, this position is for you.

We're looking for an experienced Refrigeration Technician to provide top-notch service to our customers. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a variety of refrigeration systems and be able to troubleshoot and repair issues as they arise.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain customers' refrigeration systems.
  • Inspect system components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fan motors, fans, and expansion valves.
  • Inspect tubing, connections, valves, and pumps.
  • Replace seals, gaskets, and bushings.
  • Re-assemble system components, such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and pumps.
  • Provide service to commercial refrigeration systems, including installing, servicing, repairing, and replacing parts; participating in preventative maintenance schedules; and performing minor calibrations.
  • Perform system checks, system troubleshooting, and refrigerant recovery.
  • Perform electrical and gas system troubleshooting.
  • Maintain records including daily service logs, refrigerant recovery reports, and service records.
  • Research and resolve complex system problems.
  • Complete assigned paperwork and forms.
  • Conduct safety inspections, including proper use of personal protective equipment, and verify that safety regulations are followed.
  • Installation of various types of refrigeration and HVAC equipment.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience as a refrigeration technician.
  • HVAC certification.
  • Braising and soldering skills.
  • Knowledge of local building codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and compliance schematics.
  • Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment.

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements

  • Clean Class 5 SK Driver's License and abstract.
