Position Overview

The Traffic Control Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing the flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic safely through construction zones. This role involves coordinating site equipment operations in close proximity to traffic and other potential hazards. The Specialist must engage with the public in a respectful and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety of workers by maintaining a traffic-free work environment and alerting them to any incoming dangers;
  • Guide trucks for safe entry and exit from work sites, directing them on where to unload materials;
  • Support the setup and upkeep of project signage and barriers, including daily reports on barricade conditions;
  • Assist in measuring work areas for accurate quantity assessments;
  • Organize, categorize, and archive haul tickets from delivery vehicles;
  • Monitor hired equipment usage and provide necessary pay tickets/receipts.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a Traffic Control role.
  • Possession of a recognized Flag Training certification.
  • Ability to assert control and provide clear, concise directions.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and irregular schedules with limited breaks.
  • Capability to stand, walk, and hold items (e.g., stop/slow paddle, communication devices) for prolonged periods.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Adherence to all safety regulations and policies.
  • Availability for overtime work as needed.
