Job Title: Superintendent (Utilities), Infrastructure | Civil Contractor | Vancouver

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Superintendent to join our civil and infrastructure team in Vancouver, BC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our projects, ensuring compliance with industry best practices, and delivering high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and direct construction projects, ensuring adherence to contract documents and industry standards;
  • Verify safety compliance among labor forces, including subcontractors;
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, including journals, health and safety documentation, and maintenance records;
  • Enforce project safety and quality-control policies;
  • Coordinate construction crews, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, fostering positive relationships with owners, subcontractors, and unions;
  • Analyze specifications and construction drawings to develop construction plans and schedules;
  • Monitor project sites to ensure compliance with owner standards, design procedures, contract specifications, and industry best practices;
  • Research and recommend solutions to design problems, including conflicts, interferences, and errors/omissions;
  • Plan and implement schedules with project managers to determine crew levels, equipment, and subcontractor availability;
  • Attend and lead project meetings to monitor and support projects;
  • Review cost reports with project managers to analyze, determine solutions, and correct tasks outside budget;
  • Complete additional assignments and responsibilities as requested by construction managers and senior management;
Requirements:
  • Engineering degree (civil engineering preferred) or construction management degree with civil experience;
  • 5+ years of civil construction experience;
  • Valid British Columbia driver's license;
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe;
  • Proficient in the English language (written and oral) with strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Perceptive listening skills;
  • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail;
  • Effective time management and organizational skills;
  • Adept at multi-tasking and prioritizing;
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment;
  • Negotiation and conflict management;
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills;
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize;
  • Ability to meet and adhere to deadlines and work under strict time constraints;
  • Self-motivated and driven;
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada – no work permit sponsorship available for this position;
