About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Actuarial Co-Op to join our team at Mercer, a global consulting leader in health, wealth, and career. As an Actuarial Co-Op, you will work closely with our experienced professionals to design and implement benefits programs that support our clients' success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in delivering impactful solutions for organizations of any size and varied industries, contributing to the financial and strategic management of their employee benefit programs.
  • Work in a collaborative environment on a wide variety of client teams, employing actuarial techniques to perform valuation modeling of retiree group benefit plan costs and post-employment obligations.
  • Support clients in the financial and strategic management of their employee benefit programs through analysis and communication, utilizing Mercer's internal tools to price plan design changes and prepare future cost projections.
  • Gain an understanding of basic project management and consulting skills, including managing the quality and timeliness of client deliverables, participating in client calls and meetings, and assisting with the preparation of clear and concise client-friendly communications.
  • Develop knowledge of Health and Benefits products, services, and technical tools offered by Mercer, vendor/carrier markets, basic underwriting skills, budget-setting, rate-setting, and evaluation.

Requirements
  • Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, and working knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience in data analysis and presentation design.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity, seeking opportunities to develop new skills.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work under tight deadlines and changing client needs.
  • Superior organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of two (2) years towards a Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • Previous relevant work experience.
