Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Discovery Early Learning & Care. As a key member of our child care centre, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and engaging environment that supports the growth and development of young children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Design and implement child-care programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of children, promoting their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Leadership and Guidance: Lead activities that foster creativity, imagination, and learning, including storytelling, singing, and outings to local points of interest.
  • Child Support: Assist children in developing essential life skills, such as eating, dressing, and toilet habits, while promoting independence and self-confidence.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Establish and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, community service providers, and parents, ensuring a collaborative and supportive environment for children.
  • Health and Safety: Plan and maintain a safe and healthy environment that protects the well-being of children, adhering to licensing regulations and industry standards.
Requirements
  • Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year.
  • Experience: Experience is an asset, but not required.
  • Certifications and Memberships: Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate.
  • Personal Qualities: Dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, flexibility, reliability, team player, values and ethics.
Work Environment
  • Work Site Environment: Noisy, non-smoking, air-conditioned.
  • Work Setting: Child care centre.
  • Transportation: Own transportation, public transportation available.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
  • Physical Demands: Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail required.
