Key Attributes for Success
You will be a valuable addition to Dufferin Construction if you:

  • Possess over 10 years of proven experience in the Municipal Civil Market.
  • Enjoy working independently while planning, scheduling, and managing asphalt paving Foremen and projects.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience successfully managing Civil projects and various skilled workers while adhering to policies and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the company's Asphalt Paving Foremen.
  • Assign tasks and supervise the Asphalt Paving Foremen to ensure production targets, quality workmanship, and health & safety standards are met.
  • Develop and maintain the Asphalt Paving Schedule for all crews.
  • Collaborate with Operations and District Managers, Chief Estimators, Project Superintendents, and project site teams.
  • Work jointly with Asphalt Superintendents in other districts.
  • Engage with the Asphalt Quality Control Department.
  • Coordinate with the Asphalt Plant Department.
  • Collaborate with DCC's Construction Regional Performance Committee & Performance Manager.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Asphalt Initiatives, including:
    • Cadence Calls
    • Regional Performance Initiatives
    • Paver Tracker
    • Viewpoint KPI
    • Project Planning Practices
    • Transportation
    • Paving Crew Schedule
  • Facilitate Foreman Development.
  • Manage overall inventory control of materials and equipment.
  • Foster positive customer relationships.
  • Prepare reports in accordance with current procedures.
  • Recruit skilled tradespeople as per current protocols.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for subordinates to meet company requirements.
  • Delegate responsibilities while maintaining overall accountability for the role.
  • Lead the team to promote a positive work environment.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the Municipal Civil Market.
  • 5 years of leadership experience managing Civil projects and various skilled workers while adhering to policies and guidelines.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate teams.
  • Experience with projects of varying sizes.
  • Experience collaborating with key vendors.
  • Ability to build relationships, guide collaboration, and provide exceptional training support to Superintendents & Foremen.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Customer-focused and adaptable, with outstanding communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
