What is the Opportunity?

The Royal Bank of Canada's Actuarial Services team provides critical support to our clients, focusing on Life & Health Insurance policy values and policyholder taxation issues. As a strong mathematically oriented individual, you will work under tight deadlines to deliver accurate and timely values to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide calculated policy values for High Net Worth clients upon client request
  • Provide policyholder taxation calculations for all Life policies
  • Collaborate with the team to test new products, focusing on premium calculations, exempt test calculations, and policy values
  • Identify issues on the Life administration systems and work with business specialists to resolve
  • Respond daily to client requests, prioritizing importance to best serve our clients

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Finance, Actuarial Science, or related fields, with exposure to Information Technology disciplines and techniques, and some actuarial exams
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in a testing discipline related to product and pricing implementations
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, primarily Excel
  • Ability to work effectively and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment, communicate effectively with all stakeholders, and escalate issues to drive resolution
  • Strong attention to detail in mathematical calculations

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASA designation
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and adapt to change
  • Ability to work effectively with the team within the department and with other departments as project work dictates
  • Knowledge of programming language APL is an asset
  • Ability to problem-solve and recognize opportunities for improvements in processes
